While out shopping for Halloween costumes for the girls I did what I normally do. I took a little stroll through the dollar spot and to my surprise I found these really cute black faux shutters. Of course I had to place them in my cart. Now what? This is a crafters biggest problem. All of these wonderful surfaces but what are you actually going to do with it. I started to place it around different places in my house and finally decided I wanted to place it on my bookshelf (even though its designed to hang on a wall). Instantly I thought of hanging one of the 5x7 Pennant Banners on it to add a little dimension. Since this is in my living room I try to create things that are motivational, inspiring and family oriented. When I saw the "Do Small Things" transfer I knew it would blend in wonderfully with my decor.
One of the greatest things about Chalk Couture is that I can create high-end home decor that is custom to my color pallet. Plus the process is super simple. First, when I'm working with fabric I like to use my Ink Mat. The mat is sticky and it allows the fabric to stay in place plus it smoothes the fabric out so there are no ripples when I'm working. Next, I place the transfer onto the fabric pennant banner and apply the Black Velvet Chalkology Ink. The ink will actually become permanent once it dries. After it dries place a sheet of parchment paper on top and go over it with a warm iron for 4 minutes or you can use a heat press to seal in your design.
Here is a quick tutorial of the process I used to create this banner.
